Sometimes you just get lucky as a photographer. Some of my friends tell me that I say this too often and that I need to take more credit for what I do, but yesterday I really lucked out! There is no other way to look at it.

I had a wedding shoot in Patterson, CA with James and Anna. I’ve already worked with the couple since I took their engagement photos awhile back… and they were great to work with. I remember that they were very trusting and encouraged me to do whatever I wanted to do.

It was an overcast day and I had no idea what the location would look like, all I knew was that they were having the wedding and reception at a country club on a golf course. I had to drive through a series of hills before I made it to the club but once I got there I saw a few wildflowers out around the building. But the real surprise was when I walked out back behind the reception area… because up in the distance was a sea of wildflowers.

The only question I had after seeing this was that it was a little bit of a hike… especially for a bride in a wedding dress. But after Anna got done mumbling a few things to James about my idea, they just said… “hey, you’re the photographer”. So from there we made the hike up the hill and got some great shots. Once we were finished I noticed that Anna had to clean up her dress a bit, but in my mind it was a small price to pay to get some amazing shots. It was definitely a good day!
