It’s always fun to shoot superstars when they come to town. The first difference is in the crowd size since the arena seems to fill up faster when a big name comes into town. Secondly, … usually other big names come to the arena as well… so it was no surprise when I saw actress Gabrielle Union sitting two rows behind me (… and I have to admit it’s really nice to say I had better seats to a game than a movie star). But everything helps to contribute to the atmosphere which seems to get everyone in the building a little more pumped up. I had a blast shooting Dwyane Wade though… the first time I took pictures of him in Miami I remember thinking how “sneaky” he was, …  you almost forgot he was on the court at times because he seemed to disappear a lot. But last night I got a few good shots of him… including a different looking shot when he caught a high pass while being fouled by Tyreke Evans in the fourth quarter. I was pretty happy with my shoot though… it was a good night.

I got back into basketball mode when the Pacers took on the Kings last night. The Kings won and look a lot different than the team that was playing in Sacramento last year. My favorite shot of the night was even picked up by the wire service I work for. The Pacers best player, Danny Granger, lost the ball and tried to dribble the ball under the legs of another player, but for whatever reason the picture didn’t even make it to our web-site. I’ll admit it’s not the prettiest of pictures, but as a photographer one of my goals is to get a shot that doesn’t happen everyday…  so I thought I got a decent one when I got that photo. But It’s just one of the small frustrations you have to deal with as a photographer, but there’s really not much I can do about it when I shoot sports photography since my only job is to take the photos, caption them, and then upload them to our server. But hopefully I’ll get some good shots at the next game when Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat come to town in a few days. Can’t wait to see Wade in action again.
