In a battle of in-state rivals the Kings defeated the Warriors 99-96 last night. I don’t have too much to say about the game to be honest… you could tell each team wanted to win to have local bragging rights which gave each team a little more to play for since neither team will be making a push for the playoffs this year. But it was fun to see two of the top rookies square off and go head to head against each other when Tyreke Evans and Stephen Curry squared off. Curry looked pretty good but at the same time he just wasn’t big enough to guard Evans in the low post. The funniest part of the game came when Evans tried to take advantage of the size difference and tried backing Curry down to score… Curry actually stopped Evans on the first try but Evans just kept asking for the ball each time down the court and tried to take it right at Curry again and again. I have a feeling if it was up to Evans he would’ve called for the ball all night in the low post against Curry. But everything paid off for Evans in the end in the battle of top rookies when the Kings prevailed to win by three.

Everyone knows that Dwight Howard has an amazing physique for a guy who is just about 7 feet tall. And he really used his body to harass the Kings last night leading the Magic to a 109-88 victory. The Kings treated Howard like a human punching bag, but that didn’t stop Howard from scoring 30 points and grabbing 16 rebounds in the game. I didn’t get any incredible shots on the night in my opinion… but I did get one shot that was picked up on USA Today’s website when Howard was calling for the ball after it flew out of bounds in the second half. Funny how the one photo that is picked up is when there was absolutely no action going on… sometimes that’s just how it works. In hindsight I probably should’ve covered the Magic by moving to their side of the court in the second half, but I stayed on the Kings side to try and get some shots of Tyreke Evans… but nothing ever really came of that as the Kings really struggled last night.

The Baltimore Ravens defeated the Raiders 21-13 to secure a spot in the playoffs yesterday. The Raiders seemed to hang around for awhile and make things interesting… but they could never quite get over the hump. I got a decent shot of Ravens running back Willis McGahee flexing after scoring a touchdown… and I saw the shot run on the front page of Yahoo Sports which was cool. I had another shot of him diving into the end zone which made for a cool pic… but the lighting was a bit off since the players were in the shade and the crowd was still heavily lit by the sun… otherwise it would’ve looked a little better. But my football shoots are done for the year and now it’s time to focus primarily on basketball until baseball rolls back around in April.
